HOW DO WE HELP?

RWCA PROGRAMS:

  • Provide educational resources to help save lives around the world.
  • The Disaster Water Response Team is comprised of RWCA Members who are Volunteers. These dedicated individuals voluntarily participate in flood rescue events, and hurricane events including Hurricane Harvey in 2017.
  • The Accident Review Program reviews RWC and PWC mishaps, accidents, and near- misses from around the world, investigating these types of incidents to identify the root cause and develops corrective actions for safety consideration that can help prevent future mishaps.
  • The Heroes Wear Lifejackets Program was created to educate the public about the need to wear lifejackets when on all types of watercraft, Promote Boating Safety, Lifesaving, Drowning prevention, and to provide funding for  lifejacket loaner stations.

RESULTS

DISASTER WATER RESPONSE TEAM

In August of 2017 Hurricane Harvey devastated much of the Gulf Coast. The Disaster Water Response Team is comprised of K38 volunteers, boarded a plane and drove across country to some of the worst affected areas along the coast of Texas and Louisiana. They traveled to Port Arthur and Baumont in Texas, and the Lake Charles area of Louisiana where they performed rescues of people, pets and livestock.

Funds for gas and food were donated by a fundraising drive by RWCA for Disaster Water Response Team volunteers.
